The Party’s Camp, Outskirts of Saxville
Guy: We have forced the monster to retreat. Igy, What is our next move?
Aust: I have A suspicion that we have been followed we should move our camp, anyone can see us here.
Guy: let them see us and if they are ignorant of the power of the All Seeing Eye, then I will teach them a lesson. brandishes his blade
Igy: I have sent a raven to East castle informing them of our exploits and whereabouts.

Later that Day
Igy: the raven has returned! It has a message from WuLan. it reads: the vampires must be very powerful you will need my help. dirk and I are going to drive the foriegners from our land. once you have found the vampire’s keep wait for dirk and i join you before entering.
Konan: those damned foriegners i wonder what they have done that so bad to make wulan turn against them!
Igy: I think that wulan is right these vmpires are a dangerous foe.
Aust: I have heard in my travels across the northern plains of a powerful kingdom to the north east which has been expanding.
Guy: And what is the name of their king?
Aust: He is the Mutton King. descended from sheperds i believe.

Foreigners Part 3

Wu-Lan and Dirk arrive by phantom steed at East Castle in the afternoon. With them are the documents incriminating the Connery family in thievery of public funds and all of the loot from the estate. A raven has arrived from Iggy and it reads:

“We have encountered one vampire, and forced him to retreat. Tonight we camp in the hills outside Saxville. Tomorrow we will make our way to the keep, hopefully while the sun is up. May request backup. Konan says ‘Better have plenty turkey left when I get back’.”

dirk: captain what of the developments here
captain: speak with my spy Miss Litefoot.
spy: I sneaked into the east wall which is crawling above and below with soldiers. I know the emblem of a Sacred Star and Tree it is from a forest north of the Iron Mountains. Within the tower I saw-
Dirk: How were you able to get past the guards unharmed?
spy: I said that i sneaked in. anyways I saw that they are keeping a dire bear and a rock troll on the second floor near the mage’s chambers and the dukes chambers is on the top floor. I saw an imp talking to a dwarf and giving him orders.
captain: we have also spotted a flying vessel; i believe it is called a dirigible which we believe transported the new troops. We might be outnumbered.
wu-Lan: That’s it, I’ve heard enough. They leave now, and by force!

Guy, Aust, Iggy, Konan, and Falco have treked for a day and a half in pursuit of the vampire…
Iggy: “We will use the daylight to our advantage and lay siege to the keep tomorrow, it shouldn’t be much further.”

While the others sleep, Falco and Guy rout more vampire spawn.

Meanwhile in Pembroke Part 3

Afternoon, The Well Traveled Road
Dirk: “good morning wu lan.”
wu lan: " what is so important that you drew me away form a near catastrophe at new east castle?"
Dirk: “let us go inside where we can talk privately”
Wu-lan: “ok”

Dirk’s Suite
Dirk: “You know councilman connery right?”
Wu lan: “yes”
Dirk: “well there has been some funds missing from the city treasury and the sewage system for the poor district is not in operation. I’ve been wondering if he has been purging tax money. Dorian and I tracked down an old halfling who used to work at the connery estate. His name was gaingly and he told us that there was some kind of monster being kept in the mansion. So I was thinking, what do they need a monster for? what are they gaurding?”
Wu lan: and?
Dirk: “so we’re going to break in and see if we can find any evidence that connery has been pilfering tax money and see if we can get past the beast to recover whatever it’s guarding.”
Wu-lan: “this seems unlawful…”
Dirk: “I’ve got all the equipment here.” geustures to some bags on his bed “and I know the general layout of the estate. We’ll be in in and out in no time.”
Wu-lan: “I don’t know…”
Dirk: “no innocents will be harmed.”
Wu-lan: “okay, when do we do it?”
Dirk: “tonight once the bars have closed.”
Wu-lan: “and tomarrow you will travel to east ccastle with me and help to handle the situation there?”
Dirk: “what situation?”
Wu-lan: “the foreigners are causing trouble, they’ve moved into the east tower even after Konan specifically told them to stay outside the inner walls.”
Dirk: “of course! that sort of blatant disregard for authority can’t be allowed!” winks “hahaha!”
Hey hey Wu lan! whats down?
Wu-Lan: I came as fast as I could. What’s wrong?
Dirk Toole: I need help with a mssion of top secrecy.
Wu-Lan: What is it?
Dirk Toole: C’mon dontcha wanna know what it is
(There is a birthday party going on downstairs, covering up your whispers.)
Wu-Lan: (whispering) What’s so urgent that you call me away from a near crisis at eastcastle?
Dirk Toole: This won’t take long I will go there with you as soon as we are done. there has been no word from Igy
*smokes pipe
okay, so you know councilman Connery Right?
Wu-Lan: right…
Dirk Toole: so There have been some funds missing from the sewage program in the poor part of town
and I wonder if he has anything to do with it
so we are going to break into his house and find proof of just that
Wu-Lan: Hmm..that must mean your hunch is strong, indeed.
Dirk Toole: A old halfling who used to work a the connery estate told me that they keep some kind of monster as a pet
Wu-Lan: hoo boy. sounds to be right up our alley,
Dirk Toole: Remember no innocents can be killed
Wu-Lan: Shouldn’t I be reminding you of that?
Dirk Toole: gives wu lan a dark look
Dirk Toole: so unless you are tired from your ride
Wu-Lan: The steed did all the work
let’s go
Dirk Toole: yes! smokes pipe everything is set.

Night, The Connery Estate
Is this the mansion coming up here on the left?
Wu-lan: whispering “look for an open window to climb into”
Dirk: “by night all the windows and doors have alarm spells cast upon them. We need to get to the west side of the building where we can enter via the third floor balcony”
And the mansion is here
Wu-Lan: i saw it

Dirk Toole: Hmm it must be the next big one then. Has anybody seen us looks over his shoulder
its pitch black night except for the street lamps.

Guard: (bows slightly) Evenin’. (walks past)

Wu-Lan:doh
Wu-Lan: There it is, ahead
Ian P. (GM): That’s a window.
Aaron T.: ok dirk turns left
Dirk Toole: whats that up there?
(at wulan)
Wu-Lan: Window. a way in
Dirk Toole: good thinking wulan! i have grapeling hooks we just have to find the right window
Dirk Toole: waves at wu lan
A streetlight illuminates the side of a medium-sized building. Inside you see a fireplace roaring and people sleeping on bunk beds.
Wu-Lan: *cocks head, points in
*points to next window
are we at the right building?
More bunkbeds
Dirk: Seems odd, for a mansion to have bunkbeds.
Wesley S.: some kinda training facility?
Its a 3 story peaked roof, but there is a 3rd floor terrace/balcony on the west side.
Wulan: The 2nd and 3rd floors are separate pages, just let me know your plan
Dirk Toole: all the windows and doors are alarmed by night
Wu lan: so its either the sewers or the balcony
Dirk Toole: balcony
Wu-Lan: ok, let’s give it a shot
Dirk Toole: ive already estimated the distance and mr grappeling hook has the right length or rope attached
ranged attack with the hook
40ft thrown
Dirk Toole:
Show me whereabouts you want to climb up
The balcony is on the left side
Note the placement of windows.
Alright, now make a Use Rope check halfway up (heh, heh)
Dirk Toole: Grey boxes are windows, brown boxes are doors
Wu-Lan: in this case, the doors are gated arches
Wu-Lan: spot for windows or gates ajar
None from where you can see, but there are candles set in torch holder things.
None are lit, but you can use them if you want.
That red circle is a light source
There are recesses in the walls with candles and a frosted glass panel
Those doors are 10ft wood double doors
Dirk Toole: climbing onto the balcony
Oh, this is the balcony
You are looking into a 3rd floor hallway
Dirk Toole: Aha! Aha I found a catch. This is on the window, yes? Cool. Alarm disabled. It’s still locked though. Bingo
We’re in. No traps
Wu Lan: psst
Dirk: Third floor is almost all bedrooms, including the ‘master’ bedrooms, larger rooms where the most prominent family members are likely to be staying.Second floor is more bedrooms, if there were any guests staying there they would more than likely be on the second floor.
The common rooms are on the first floor – the ballroom on the west wall, great hall near the east, library in the southwest corner and several sitting rooms.
Basement consists of the dungeon, kitchen, cellar and room with the creature in it.
There is a rear hallway on the east wall used by the servants that has stairs to all but the third floor.

dirk obtained a potion from a bedroom and some documents.
Dirk Toole: says here points Aoclast family from another kingdom is investing in the Connery bank
Dirk Toole: nothin here. ITS A TRAP! There the trap is removed.
inside is: two hats, some papers, a morning-star, 2 boxes of platinum, 3 wands, a magic skull, and a pair of boots
Dirk Toole: what are these papers?
Wu Lan: finance sheets, possibly evidence. if you look close enough
Dirk Toole: i found it! this proves them guilty! its the personal log of Martin Connery.
Dirk: “we’ll put this all in the magic bag. wu lan put on the fancy shoes”
Wulan: “no”
The pair of adventures returns into the hallway.
A Peasant appears!
rolling 1d20+16 (to hit with bow. -4 when shooting into combat)
Peasant: zzzz
Dirk Toole: meet me in the basement of the magic shop
wulan: “ok”
Dirk uses most of the hour of sleep and get more layout of the estate.

basement of the magic shop
Wu Lan: Want to identify stuff? We can pay 125gp per item at the arcane shop. Or less, cause Iggy is a member it’s at cost; so 100gp.
Dirk Toole: Ive gotta sleep
Wu-Lan: Ill take care of it you did lots of rogueing. impressive work with all the lock and traps, im still angry that you put that innocent servant to sleep!"
Dirk: “Seriously stick to the plan though”

Next Day, Outside The Road
Dirk Toole: “Wu Lan! have you eaten breakfast yet!?”
Wu-Lan: I dont eat…
Dirk Toole: “oh yeah !! hahah!”
Dirk Toole: “did you get the rest of the job straitened out last night?” whispers and lights pipe
Wu Lan: “we got:A salve of disguise, Wands each of Eagle’s Splendor, Cat’s Grace and Comprehend Languages, A grey Bay of Tricks, The cloaks are both Charisma + 3 and cast dominate 1/day, the boots are just fancy-”
Dirk Toole: “and the hats?”
Wu lan: “And there is a Hat of the Barrister – calm emotions, discern lies and detect thoughts each 1/day. The other hat is Charisma +2,inherent (stacks with other equipment)”
Dirk Toole: “they are definately going to be missing those”
Wu-Lan: “Ill say”
Dirk Toole: “so what did we tell them about where it came from?”
Wu-Lan: “Well, being purely interested in magic removes the need for most questions..”
Dirk Toole: “so the story about it being crafted by a foriegn magician worked?” whispers
Wu-Lan: *winks
Dirk Toole: “Great now all of those items will be for sale at the store! what happens when the Connerys see their clothes hanging up to be sold”
Wu-Lan: “I asked that he reveal them slowly”
Dirk Toole: “hmm yes, since they are from a foriegn land the shop must study them first…
what about the skull?”
Wu-Lan: It was evil. Some sort of death totem. Casts desecrate and pro good each 1/day
Dirk Toole: “that should be destroyed!”
Wu lan: “And a morningstar: +1, spell storing (sleep), and that potion Of Eagle’s Splendor”
Dirk Toole: “Great! the store can sell all of it after one month of proper inspection. we must be careful since the lot contained an evil item”
Wu Lan: “Sure, plus we’re the heroes, whatever we say goes.”
Dirk Toole: “any of the items could be cursed we should have a high level spellcaster like Aust inspect them”
Wu lan: “Should the shop hold them in storage till Aust gets back?”
Dirk: “yeah why would the mages at the guildhall care where this stuff came from? still if word gets out…”
Wu Lan: “everyone will believe my story”
Dirk Toole: “see i told you i had a plan. AND nobody got hurt”
Wu-Lan: cuz we left right away
Dirk Toole: we have a long day ahead of us my wee little friend heheehe
Wu-Lan: So when are we going to take care of the business at eastcastle?
Dirk Toole: “tomarrow, we will ride there in the evening. today we have to find out how to plant the evidence to further shame the name of connery and the pilfering that the late councilman was a part of”
Wu-Lan: Find a councilmember to give them to. someone we can trust
Dirk Toole: hmm what about your friend. Potters was it?
Wu Lan: who’s in charge of treasury?
Dirk: “The council collectively, the coffers are on one of the top floors of the tower. we could just pass it to Councilman Pudder’s paige who would then pass it along to him. is there a new connery on the council?”
Wulan: “no”
Dirk Toole: or we could just keep the information to ourselves
Wu-Lan: Let’s wait and see for a day, or until the council meeting when iggy comes back. I will keep the evidence until then.
Dirk Toole: ok well just hit it back to east castle, before the battle starts without us!!

Morning,Basement of the Magic Shop
Dirk: “So its me and you Dorian.” pats his friend of the back “If there’s some beast hidden in that building it’s gotta be guarding something valuable.”
Dorian: “Between you and me, nothing will stay hidden for long.”
Dirk: “let’s buy you a scroll of invisibility, to sweeten the deal. But what about our escape plan?”
Dorian: “My bag can hold everything we find, maybe we’ll get some prime loot. Otherwise let’s just save the scroll for the exit.”
Dirk: “Let’s get a couple grappling hooks, I got lots o rope, ’sides no on ever looks up! hahaha.”
Dorian: “Good idea, we’ll be sure to go unnoticed.”
Dirk: “and remember we can’t kill any innocent people”
Dorian: “with my new cowl, I can sense magical auras.”
Dirk: yeah where did you find that thing?
Dorian is silent
Dirk: “Anyways do we have everything we need form here? I think we do. I’ve got a few more things I need to check in with. I’ll see yo at The Road tonight”
Dorian: “ok”

Evening, The Well Traveled Road
Dirk: “Where is that son of a gun.” shakes his head
Bartender: “Who?” wipes off a mug
Dirk: You know dorian right, he fought in the battle for pembroke.
Bartender: “yes I think I do”
Dirk: “well he aint here” _empties his beer mug"
Bartender “oh! I know the one. Yeah he came in here the other night!” Fills another mug from the barrel and slides it to dirk “yeah he came in here wearing a weird mask the other night”
Dirk: “of course you know him marybelle! We practacaly live here” gulps down some beer “he wears that mask all the time now. Now I can’t even find him anywhere in town… I’ll have to send a Raven to East castle for Wu-Lan”
Marybelle: “Oh Wu-Lan I just love him!”
Dirk: “why does everybody love him?” shakes his head.

Meanwhile Back in Pembroke

Streets of Pembroke, Peasants District
Dirk and Dorian amble down the street enjoying a pipe of good herb. A child runs by being chased by his older sister.
Dirk: “This part of town is real crumby. But the people have good hearts.”
Dorian: “It is the same in Greyhawk, Kings feast while the workers barely survive.”
Dirk: “It’s not right. These people’s homes-” (shaking his head) “The roofs are falling apart and when it rains people have to put buckets to catch the water. And filth sits in the street when it could easily be washed away by the city’s sewers”
Dorian: “Yes. But the masons will not work for free and these people have no jobs and thus no money to give. perhaps you would part with your gold to help them?”
Dirk: (hitting the pipe once more) “Maybe I will Dorian. But truth be told, my portion of our gold would not do much, there are many peasants in Pembroke and these buildings have been neglected for many generations of men. If only we could get at the blue dragon’s treasure…”
Dorian: But niether of us know enough about magic to break the protective spells and master Ignatious is off hunting vampires.
Just then seemingly from nowhere a small girl appears. No not a small girl but a beautiful halfling woman.
Halfling: “I couldn’t help but to overhear your conversation.”
Dirk: (angrily) “Missy, dontcha think you oughta bug off! and stay out of our buisness!”
Dorian: “Do as he says his temper is short and and he hasn’t yet had lunch.”
Halfling: (stepping back and making a small bow) “I recognize you two. You saved this city from Salaman and his evil army from the desert! Please listen I know that you are good.”
Dirk: “how good I am depends on how good you are missy now spit it out before I have you arrested for eavesdropping.”
Halfling: “you can’t do that! and besides I like to see you or the city gaurd catch me.”
Dorian: “he said spit it out!”
Halfing: “Well, If you two are looking for gold I know where to find a lot of gold- and gems too.”
Dirks eyes light up.
Dirk: “Alright young lady, you are a pretty one. Would you like to accompany a coupla heros to lunch, I’m starving. We can talk all about it once I get some food in me.”
Halfling: My name is Lisa Brim-Buckle and I would be delighted to join a couple of heros for lunch!"

That Night, Outside the Pembroke Walls
Dirk: “How come its so dark already?”
Dorian: “I don’t know the days and nights on this plane are strange to me.”
Then as we came upon a stone wall Dirk spots a movement and goes chasing up to it yelling YARRRRR!!. It is a troll. Dorian holds back to gauge the creature before running up to make a finishing blow with his magic rapier. In doing so he managed to catch on of the creatures claws to his chest causing a small scratch on his neck.
Lisa: “You two sure are fierce as wild beasts.” moving on a bit past the stone wall. “this is where i last saw my family camped right here by this half ruined castle.” she gesture to a fire place and wagon wheels and a pile of horses dung. “They must have moved on.” A look of forlorn crosses Lisa’s small but beautiful face.
Dorian: “It is okay, I can track them. If what you said is true at the bar and your uncle used to work in the Connery Estate, then he may be very useful in Dirk’s crak-pot plot to become rich.”
Dirk: (hiccups) “My plan to spread the wealth Dorian. Big Difference!”
Dorian: “Sure there is!”
Lisa: “My uncle Gaingly surely worked in the Connery estate. But when we meet him you must be certain not to mention the nature of his labor as he would be very upset; he thinks of himself and his time there in a certain amiable manner.”
Dorian: "We will be most courteous about the nature of his past "employment""

After an hour of tracking and questioning farmers west of Pembroke Gaingly and some others of Lisa’s family are located. Gaingly is rather gangly, for a gnome, and appears to be well over a hundred years old.

Gaingly: “And what pray tell were you doing out in the city at this hour dear?”
Lisa: “Let’s not get into that. Uncle, these are the heroes who saved us from Salaman! Show some respect!”
Gaingly: (laughs) “Saved us! You mean you and I? Look around you; is your life any better than it had been?”
Lisa: “Well you see, that’s why we came to you. These men, Dirk and Dorian, are interested in, um, ‘liberating’ some of the Connery fortune. Didn’t you used to -”
Gaingly: (angrily) “Used to what?”
Dorian: (quickly) “We’ve heard you know the ins and outs of the Connery estate. Any information you have that would help us would be of great use.”
Gaingly: “You mean theft? Breaking and entering? What kind of heroes are you?”
Lisa: “Uncle, think of all the jewels and sculptures and curios and piles of gold just sitting in that house, doing nobody but a few dozen people any good. And all the stories you’ve told me about how terrible that Martin fellow and his children are.”
Dorian: “Also, you will be paid. Handsomely.”
Gaingly: “How handsomely?”
Dorian: “Handsomely enough that you, your family, and all their children yet unborn will have food, water and shelter for the rest of your lives. Things are changing fast in Pembroke; Master Ignatius has grown a fondness for you downtrodden folk. He will help yours and many other families live life the way it is meant to be lived; freely and joyously.”
Gaingly: (ponders for a long while) "This will not be easy. It has been many years since I set foot in those halls, and much may have changed.
“Being so close to the Tower, the city guard will likely be patrolling there all day, every day. All windows and outside doors are alarmed from sundown to sunup, but there are override triggers on the inside. You could climb up through the sewer drain, but it’s got a thick grate that might be tricky to get by. There was a young woman there, her name escapes me now; she liked to stargaze out on the balcony. Wonder if she’s even still alive…”
Dorian: “What about inside?”
Gaingly: “There is a heavily sealed door in the cellar – some kind of monster in there, always growling and thrashing if you get too close. Never saw it myself. The bedchambers are on the second and third floors, but I couldn’t tell you whose is whose. There used to be 4 or 5 house guards in my day. Of course, they never told us where the gold was.”

Dorian gives a handful of gold coins to Gaingly and Lisa.

Dorian: “Thank you very much. There will be plenty more after we’re through.”
Gaingly: “No, thank you, sirs. Oh, one more thing, whatever you do do not touch the big statue. At least that’s what they always told me. You’ll know which one. (shudders)”
Dirk: burbs “that was some good rabbit stew.” Here sir try some of my ale. uncorks his mini barrel of pembroke beer
(after drinks go round) Dirk: “we should have no problem infiltrating the site, piece of cake for a couple stealthy types like me n dorian. piece o cake i tell ya. hahaha! we’re gonna be rich!”
Dorian: “I thought you said we were doing it to help the people.”
Dirk: “We are! Trust me you’ll see! haha!”
Gaingly: “This ale isn’t so good. We used to get ale from Drrunholm but that was before the council turned into a bunch of bafoons and insulted the Skorgall”
Dorian: “Whats the Skorgall?”
Dirk: “Its a law. Some generations back when the last emperor of the shield clan was old and had no children he declared that the 4 lords of the dwarf clans, smith, warrior, mason, and scribe would rule in his stead. Supposedly the dwarf god Moradin casts tie breaking vote of which there are many, but really it just means that the church casts the fifth vote. But no more talk of this, Pembroke ale will have to do” drinks
Dorian: “We’ll sleep here tonight, the city should be safe without us for one night…”
Dirk: “Dorian Remind me to talk to mr Pudder when we get back to Town.”

The Well Traveled road
Mr Pudder: “Dirk i am pleased to meet you. I missed your face at the council appointment ceremony.”
Dirk: “Thanks for meeting me here. Truth is this is the only decent bar in all of Pembroke. It’s like our office right Dorian.”
Dorian: “ehh- office?. Not really. You were right when you said that its the best bar in Pembroke” raises his mug.
Dirk: raises his mug, drinks “Councilman, where does your interest lie?”
Mr Pudder: “In the good of this city. And the good of this city depends on a working sewwage system! It wouldn’t cost that much! and-”
Dirk: “You are right about that! Another round over here maiden!”
(maiden brings stout ales)
Pudder: drinks “I like to think of myself as a champion of the people!”
Dirk: “Ahhhahaha! Me too laddie! Barmaid tell the bartender drinks on me for the whole house! Hahahaha!”
(crowd cheers)

Outside the Connery Estate
Dirk: “Dorian did you bring your grappeling hook?”
Dorian: “yeah. shh
Dirk: “oh yeah” picks his ear, then flinches “what was that?”

Foriegners Part 2

In the Main Castle
Half-orc Soldier: “Sir Wu-Lan another ship has been spotted off the shore!” He takes a knee as to be a height with the halfling monk. “and another thing sir. A soldier while on patrol early this morning found that the easternmost castle is inhabited by dwarves of a foul sort. He had to go far out of his way to even continue his patrol of the castle walls. Also smoke is steadily rising from the gnomish shop that King Konan allowed the foriegners to build.”
Wu-Lan: “Send the investigative squad to that goblin shop. I will take a party to rout the goblins. And has ship flown any colors yet?”
Half-orc Soldier: “Each ship is flying two flags one of white with a red six pointed star and the other with a family crest. What investigative squad sir? We don’t do nothing unless Konan tells us to.”
Wu-Lan: “Just bring me 2 groups of men willing to route these intruders!”
Soldier: “I told you we don-t”
Wu-Lan: Staring up at the soldier “Bring me the men or you will feel my wrath!”
Soldier: “Yes sir!”
The soldier goes off toward the barracks and Wu-Lan follows behind him out into the light of the small growing village. As of now the homes were all contained within the innermost wall and the ground inside the second wall had proven fertile enough to grow food in. Farmers had already crops growing there. It was a good start considering less than five months ago the castle had been an empty pit only suitable for monsters to live in.

The east wall
Wu-Lan stares out at the open sea. The two ships and their two flags are there as reported by the soldier earlierin the day.
Flags on the foriegners ships
On the shore several smaller vessels can be seen docked and a number of men can be seen moving about the beach. Wu-Lan can see the tent where Duke Bartholemeau is staying.
WuLan: turning towards a half-orc soldier “So when you patroled this length of the wall this morning you came to the lighthouse and were confronted by men?”
Hobgoblin: They were dwarves and they just stood by the door with their shields and axes. when we came within 100 ft they lowered a strange weapon in our direction and then fired upon us a warning shot. It was loud just like when the foriegners came into the village and demonstracted their foriegn weapons."

Tobroib eglu(half orc soldier): some gray dwarves are holed up in the tower on the eastern wall
Wu-lan: gotta take care of that
The half orc soldier who is reporting to you has come back with 10 soldiers who are willing to accompany you as body guards.
Wu-lan: And how many dwarves were estimated?
Tobroib: They were posted at all entrances to the tower so 8 are counted for already
Wu-lan: yup
Tobroib: Are you prepared to confront them?
Wu-lan: yes?
Tobroib Eglu : Sir? do you wish to approach the building from the rampart or from the front gate?
Wu-lan: Well approach the interior entrance
Tobroib Eglu: ok
Wulan: Does anyone appear?
Dwarf soldier: who goes there?
Wu-Lan: I am Wu-Lan, Defender of Pembroke and Reclaimer of Eastcastle
Dwarf soldier: well we are your guests then
Wu-lan: A name is welcome for a name, sir dwarf
Dwarf soldier: I’m Check
Wu-lan: Check. Well what is your business about these parts? Perhaps we may be of service
Dwarf soldier: I’m guarding this door just like captain mead told me to
Wu-lan: I see. I’d like this Captain to come to the door, please.
Dwarf soldier: Um of course
The Dwarves whisper to each other in undercommon/dwarven
Dwarf soldier: right away Lord Wu-lan
moments later a third dwarf appears.
Wu-lan: aha
Darnel Miid (dwaven captain): “hohoho! pleased to meet you sir Wu-lan, when they said that King Konan had left his best friend in charge I wasn’t picturing such a shrimp!what of all these guards?” guestures to the 10 soldiers in Wu-lan’s company
Wu-Lan: Be assured, many have mistaken my stature as an indication of my strength. They were sorely mistaken indeed. My soldiers alerted me to an unknown presence. I’m simply here to make certain your good intent in choosing to dwell at my castle.
Darnel Miid (dwaven captain): We are hear as humble servants of the Duke Bartholemeau. My warriors are not used to sleeping in ships and so we came ashore.
Wu-Lan: Cant say I blame you, Ive never found ships to be very hospitable. And what may I ask, is your mission as Duke Bartholemeau’s envoys?
Darnel Miid (dwaven captain): This is a trade operation under charter by the king of spree
we are looking for new markets in which to sell the abundant goods of our allied nations
Wu-Lan: Ah, yes. Konan had mentioned acquiring powerful new weapons for our army.
Darnel Miid (dwaven captain): He already has bought all the rifles we had for sale. The Snivilibin are now working away in their little shop making more.
The gray dwarf captain lacking a full helmet like the guards squints furiously from the light of the sun
Wu Lan: Might I say, pleased to make your acquaintance, and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Darnel Miid (dwaven captain): yes let me please go back inside the daylight is especially harsh on my races’ skin and eyes. I will tell the Duke of spree that you stopped by.
Wu Lan: Good day
Moments later out of earshot.
Tobroib Eglu (half orc soldier): What we cant just let them into our castle. They were told by konan to stay BEHIND the second wall NOT WITHIN it!"
Wu Lan: I didn’t know that. Well I shall have to send a message reminding them of that and informing them that i dont appreciate being fooled

East Castle Village
Wu-Lan: It appears our friends are the deceptive sort. With only a loose verbal agreement with Konan, they’ve overstepped their bounds and taken residence in the east tower.
Tobriob captain of the guard: I knew those nasty dwarves couldn’t be trusted, with their smoky shop and smelly machines. Let’s get rid of em, I’ll try to round up the other soldiers.

Hunting Undead

Pembroke Tower, Public Chambers

In the middle of a council meeting, a stranger enters the Tower chambers. He is a dwarf, dressed in unfamiliar garb, and sports a mechanical harpoon gun strapped to his arm.

His name is Falco Zosenheim and he is a time traveler who has no control over where or when he will be.

When told of the threat of necromancy to the north (and persuaded with hefty payment made by Iggy) the stranger agrees to accompany Iggy, Aust, Guy and Konan in a crusade. They handily defeat legions of ghasts, mohrgs, and vampire spawn, who carry Desecration Seeds – powerful tokens of a necromancer with lofty goals. Unable to find their leader, we return to Pembroke with only the seeds.

Iggy unsuccessfully attempts to scry on the owner of the seeds; they are taken to Arthur, the rector of the Greenwood Temple. After he is able to spy on the necromancer (a vampire in the Iron Mountains), the council is impressed by his magical ability, much to the dismay of councilman connery. The party sets out again. This time they travel further north to where the bog meets a hill. There they defeats a vampire, who retreats in gaseous form, with the Knights hot on its tail.

Missing Villager Part 2

The Well-traveled Road
Dirk and Dorian have returned to Pembroke. the party meets to discuss events. Aust has summoned a hero’s feast and there is plenty of food and drink to go around.
After exchanging pleasantries the two road weary scouts tell their story:
Dirk: “I know everyone missed me” (Laughter) “But im just mad that I missed the big fight. Turns out that me ’n dorian got into a fight of our own.”
Dorian: “After hearing from a young girl at East Castle that her boyfrind had gone missing we did a little investigating. As it turns out he was seen leaving town with some unknown charcter. So we followed some tracks northward until we came to a swamp. There we were ambushed by scores of undead creatures. They were quicker and tougher than zombies but they were easy enough to deal with anyhow. One of them matched the description that young girl gave of her boyfriend, unfortunately he was dead before we killed him. We were inspecting the other bodies when a new threat appeared. A knight wearing a red cape and wielding a frosty sword. He attempted to control our minds with a gaze attack and we barely escaped with our lives.”
Iggy: “Not another necromancer. And they’re always holed up in the middle of a swamp. But Boccob’s steeds can get us there quickly and safely.
We can’t all go though; the armies of Pembroke and East Castle are not quite battle-worthy should anyone take advantage of our absence.”
Dorian: “Dirk and I will stay here in Pembroke. I have no intention of facing those monsters again so soon.”
Dirk: “And I require much rest and drink before I lay my eyes on any dreadful swamp again.”

Guy, Konan, Iggy agree to head to the great swamp and get to the bottom of the vampire problem.
Konan: “Wu-Lan will you take care of East castle for me while I am gone?”
Wu-Lan “yes”

New Councilmen Part 2

Pembroke Tower, Public Chambers
Donning: “Fellow council members, I present to you two candidates: Arthur Dent, of Greenwood, and Aust Wood-rock, of the Eldritch Forest. Ignatius, as you know these men best, would you say a few words on their behalf?”
Iggy: "Surely. I once studied under Rector Arthur; he is a superb magician and theologian. His wisdom and insight is much needed in designing the new Pembroke.
“Master Aust, whom you know a little better, once saved mine and Dirk’s lives after we fled the swamp of Kyuss. We owe our lives to him. He is attuned with the Divine, moreso even than I, and his deeds are pure.
Donning: “Thank you. What say ye?”
Both measures pass unanimously.
Arthur: "I must be honest, when I first visited Pembroke nearly 30 years ago, I found it rather dull for being the so-called City of Magic. From what I hear young Iggy seeks to bring about a revival, and it will be my life’s greatest work to help.
“Actually, I have an idea I’d been tossing around last night before I fell asleep. Is this the time for propositions?”
Donning: “Go right ahead, but make it quick please.”
Arthur: “I was worried about who would be Rector in my place. They’re all a fine bunch of students, yes, but I’m not sure they could keep things running as smoothly. I also thought about how, in the City of Magic of all places, there is not a proper temple to the Uncaring Will. When I woke up, I had figured it out: We could move the Greenwood temple here!”
Councilman Bruce: “You must be joking.”
Arthur: “Let me explain. In my studies I have read of a ancient magic, long since forgotten: Geomancy. It can be used to move not just objects or buildings but entire locations from one region of space to another.”
Councilman Oswold: “Do you know how to use this magic?”
Arthur: “Not yet, but there may be more information in the archives here. If I may, I will research this Geomancy as my first act of service to Pembroke.”
Iggy: “Such powerful magic – if it is more than myth… Please, take as long as you need. Our oldest archives are here in the 4th floor library.”
Aust: “As for me, I Greatly appretiate the chance to use my magic for the good of the common people but my home must remain the road. I will come to Pembroke’s aid when needed and particularily I will take it as my personal duty to make sure that the roads leading to and from this city are safe to all travelers. As such I wish to use a bit of the city’s treasury to fund an Expidition into the Eldrich Forest where my Mother’s family hails from. The city of Mages has lost contact with it’s Elven allies, it is time to make that friendship new!”
Connery: For the final seat I have nominated my nephew. He is a young magician away for schooling in the elven city. He was supposed to arrive today but there has been some unexpected delay."
Donning: Flips through some of the other nominations on her desk. “None of these are any good. What are we to do, there is a Council meeting tomarrow and we are still short one member.”
Then Wu-Lan enters the Hall with a young boy and a grown man in tail.
Wu-Lan: “here ladies and sirs!” he is smilinig widely and bows to the council “May I present my nomination for the final remaining seat of councilman?”
Donning: “Yes, you may master Wu-lan.”
Wu-Lan: Guestures to the man standing behind him “I present Mr. Pudder.”
Mr.Pudder: “I can read and I can write. I have a level head and my family has lived in pembroke’s peasant district for over 120 years. I surely have insight into what ails this city from a perspective that those of greater means might not understand.” upon speaking these last words he glances briefly in the direction of Mr. Connery."
Donning: “Those in favor of Mr. Pudder say Aye!”
And just like that the council is full.
